At this juncture, the New Workplace Institute is
not able to provide individual counseling, coaching, or legal representation
to those who are facing problems at work. However, we will use this
website to offer an expanding base of information and guidance. For
now, the following links and sources may be helpful:
Legal Advice
The National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA)
is a national bar association for attorneys who specialize in representing
workers. Their
website, www.nela.org, includes an
online referral service.
Massachusetts employees seeking legal advice may
want to visit the website of NELA’s local affiliate at www.massnela.org,
which includes attorney contact information.
The Nolo Press, www.nolo.com,
publishes a variety of legal self-help guides for both employees
and employers. Of
particular help to employees is Barbara Kate Repa, Your Rights in
the Workplace, 7th ed. (2005).
Workplace Bullying
The leading North American website for learning about
workplace bullying is sponsored by the Workplace Bullying Institute
(WBI), www.bullyinginstitute.org.
WBI’s
founders, Drs. Gary and Ruth Namie, have authored The Bully at
Work,
rev. ed. (2003), published by Sourcebooks and available through online
booksellers and many bookstores.
Mental Health
The American Psychological Association (APA) sponsors an
online help center: www.apahelpcenter.org/
Specific APA help center pages that may be useful include:
